Who are VSC? Video Standards Council, they regulate video games across europe.

What do they do? Originally set up as a standards body for the video and video games industries, now is an administrator of the PEGI rating system.

What is their relationship with PEGI? They use and regulate the PEGI rating system for video games.

What is the process of examining a game? Every PEGI 12, 16 and 18 game is assessed by a VSC examiner (content declaration assessment), then the developer provides with evidence (submission materials), then video footage is assessed and analysed (video footage examination), then they examine the game itself and lastly they then receive the PEGI licence.

How do they ensure child safety? By law, a child cannot buy a PEGI 12, 16 or 18 rated game in a shop if they're under the age specified in the rating. However, for downloading games, parental controls come in.

FPS: First Person Shooter- fast paste action seen through the eyes of the character (first person).

RBG: Role playing Games- typically adventure games that typically include:

1) Main story and quest

2) Character evolution

3) Inventory management - weapons, armour etc

MMO means Massively Multiplayer Online

There is view from the 1st person, 2nd or directly above - hybrid MMORPG (massively multiplayer online role playing game).

Similarities and differences: All MMORPG's are MMO's but not all MMO's are MMORPG's- the difference is mainly real life setting too fictional / fantasy setting       

Toys to life- Toys-to-life is a video game feature using physical figurines or action figures to interact within the game.
